We invite you to learn more about Mount St. Mary Academy and the all-girls' environment that builds leadership and self-esteem within a strong school community where class leaders, speakers, writers, artists and athletes are all young women. Studies have confirmed what Mount has known for years about the All-Girl Advantage, finding that girls at single-sex schools surpass their co-ed peers in reading, writing and science and higher academic performance overall.
At Mount St. Mary Academy, we believe in helping each individual student reach her full potential while building a foundation of faith and values that will guide her through every stage of life. As a Catholic Christian secondary school for young women, founded in 1851, and sponsored by the Religious Sisters of Mercy of the South Central Regional Community, our school is grounded in the charisms of compassion, mercy and justice.
We've been called "the oldest new thing in town" because despite the changing world around us, Mount St. Mary has always remained dedicated to preparing students for the challenges of the future. Mount St. Mary faculty members create a fun and safe learning environment, giving students the courage to innovate and the right to make mistakes. Advances like the one-to-one laptop program only enhance the individual attention and classroom instruction that has led to our long-standing record of success.
Did you know that 98-100% of our seniors pursue a college education? The 117 graduates of the class of 2015 amassed 5,432 volunteer service hours during the 2014-2015 school year alone and earned $10 million in scholarships from colleges and other institutions. A strong academic and extracurricular record makes Mount girls stand out to college admission officers. And once in college, our graduates have a reputation for being more involved and for demonstrating leadership skills in their college classes.
Over the course of our 164-year history Mount St. Mary Academy has prepared young women for college, to serve their communities, and to become leaders and innovators. As our mission states, we are dedicated to building a strong moral and intellectual foundation for our students in order to fully prepare them for the challenges of the future as women of wisdom, compassion and integrity.
